This article provides a detailed explanation on how to create an integration user and assign permissions in Salesforce.

Create a Permission Set for Opportunity Read Access

Follow the steps below to create a Permission Set for Opportunity Read Access in Salesforce:

  1. Login to Salesforce as System Administrator

  2. Navigate to Setup (Gear icon) Click on Setup

  3. In the Quick Find, search for Permission Sets

  4. Click on Permission Sets

  5. ​Clieck on New

  6. Provide the Label as ’Opportunity Read Access’. API Name will be auto-populated.​

  7. Click on Save

  8. You’ll be directed to the newly created Permission Set Overview page. From here, click on Object Settings

  9. Search for Opportunities in the Search bar.

  10. ​Click on Opportunities.​

  11. Now, click on Edit.​

  12. Enable the checkbox for the Read permission.​

  13. Click on Save.

  14. You can now see that the Read permission is enabled for the Permission Set ‘Opportunity Read Access’.​

  15. Let’s enable the System Permission ‘API Enabled’ for this Permission Set. Click on Permission Set Overview.​

  16. Scroll-down to the System Section.​

  17. Click on System Permissions.​

  18. Click on Edit.​

  19. Scroll down to locate the API Enabled permission.​

  20. Enable the checkbox for ‘API Enabled’.​

  21. Click on Save.​

  22. You will see a pop-up titled Permission Changes Confirmation. Review the details and then click on Save to confirm the changes.​​

Create an Integration User

Follow the steps below to create an Integration User:

  1. Navigate to Setup (Gear icon). Click on Setup.​

  2. In the Quick Find, search for Users.​

  3. Click on Users.​

  4. Click on New User.​

  5. For the First Name, enter ‘Integration User’. For the Last Name, enter ‘SaaSify’.

  6. The Alias field will be auto-populated.

  7. Provide the Email ID. This is the primary email address where you will receive system notifications from Salesforce

  8. For the Username, provide a value as per your organization’s naming convention or requirement.​

  9. For the User License, select ’Salesforce’ from the list.​

  10. For Profile, select ‘Minimum Access - Salesforce’.​

  11. Scroll-down the page. Click on Save.​

  12. The Integration User has now been created. Please make a note of the Username, as it will be required later when creating the External Client App

Assigning Permission Sets to the Integration User

Follow the steps below to assign Permission sets to the Integration User:

  1. Navigate to Setup (Gear icon). Click on Setup.​

  2. In the Quick Find, search for Users.​

  3. Click on Users.​

  4. Click on the Username.​

  5. Click on Permission Set Assignments.​

  6. Click on Edit Assignments.​

  7. In the Available Permission Sets, search for ‘SaaSify Admin’.  Click on Add. ​

  8. ​The ‘SaaSify Admin’ Permission Set has now been added and is visible under ‘Enabled Permission Sets’.​

  9. Search for ‘Opportunity Read Access’ in the Available Permission Sets.​

  10. Click on Add.​

  11. Both the ‘SaaSify Admin’ and ‘Opportunity Read Access’ Permission Sets have now been added to the Integration User.​

  12. Click on Save.​
